Churches Count on Nature
A national initiative as part of the National Cemeteries Week Events 2025 is to conduct a Nature count in your local Churchyard. Immanuel Church, which has a large churchyard has decided to join the hundreds of other churches across the country by running a nature count as part of the week of June 7th- 15th. This event covers recording and spotting of species which thrive in our churchyards and cemeteries.
Any species spotted will be photographed and the information inputted to the Caring for Gods acre webpage and help to form a map of biological diversity across the country.
Heather and her granddaughter are undertaking this project for us, so we wish them good hunting!
UPDATE
The images show just some of the wildlife which they found lives in Immanuel’s churchyard and demonstrates the important role the open spaces offer to wildlife in Oswaldtwistle. #GreatAndSmall
